Introducing Youth Engagement and Community Outreach – Canada (YECO), a distinguished non-profit organization committed to enhancing community safety and well-being by tackling the critical issue of gun violence through targeted sports initiatives, youth networking events, and captivating participatory photography art projects like PhotoVoice. YECO’s transformative approach centers around engaging 500-800 young individuals across Ottawa, focusing on racialized youth, underprivileged neighbourhoods, newcomer youth, and new Canadians, as recommended by experts in the field. By harnessing the power of sports, we organize exciting basketball tournaments that promote physical activity, foster camaraderie, and instill values of teamwork and respect among participants.
Additionally, YECO facilitates impactful town hall meetings, providing a platform for young minds to voice their perspectives, exchange ideas, and build influential networks within their communities. These events cultivate an environment where youth can actively contribute to shaping their surroundings, empowering them to become catalysts for positive change.
